10  Top Ways To Improve SEO Rankings in 2019
Last Updated on July 29, 2019
Where is your website traffic coming from?
If you’re relying on people to find you through a Google search, search engine optimization (SEO) needs to be at the top of your priority list.
You won’t be able to generate leads for your business if nobody can find you.
Did you know 93% of experiences on the Internet start with a search engine?
What happens after someone makes a search?
The top result on Google has a 33% chance of getting clicked.
That means if you’re not number one on the page, you just missed out on a third of potential traffic.
What’s even more astonishing is that 75% people won’t even click on the second page of the search results.
The reason why other websites are ranking higher than you on Google is because they are making a conscious effort to improve their SEO.
Fortunately, it’s not too late for you to get started.
There are certain things you can do to increase your chances of getting ranked higher on Google searches.
I’ve identified the top 34 ways to improve your SEO ranking. Here they are.
1. Improve your page loading speed
Your page loading time is important for a few reasons.
First of all, if your load speed is too slow, Google will recognize this, and it will harm your ranking.
But a slow website will also impact the way your website visitors engage with your pages.
As a result, those negative interactions will hurt your ranking too.
Look at how abandonment rates increase for websites with long page loading times:

How slow is too slow?
Research shows 40% of visitors will abandon websites if the page takes longer than 3 seconds to load.
What’s even more shocking is that 80% of those visitors won’t return to that website.
This is terrible for your SEO ranking because it ultimately kills traffic to your site.
But on the flip side, if your page loads fast, people will keep coming back.
Google’s algorithm will recognize your website’s popularity and adjust your search ranking accordingly.
This makes it extremely important to optimize both your page speed and server response time.
If you want to test the speed of your website, there are online services such as Pingdom available for free.
This will allow you to test your website from different locations all over the world.
2. Produce high quality content
How often do you update your website?
If you haven’t touched it since the day you built it, you probably don’t have a great SEO ranking right now.
To drive more traffic to your website and increase its popularity, you need to give visitors a reason to keep coming back.
Your content needs to be high quality, recent, and relevant.
Another factor that impacts your SEO ranking is so-called dwell time.
This relates to how much time people spend on your website per visit.
If your site has fresh, exciting, or newsworthy information, it will keep visitors on your page longer and improve your dwell time.
Websites that provide highly informative content typically have long dwell times.
Save your content ideas in one place across all the document apps you use.
Here’s something else to consider.
Google Chrome controls nearly 45% of the Internet browser market share, making it the most popular browser in the world.
That number will continue to rise as Chrome was also the most downloaded browser of 2017:

When users bookmark your website from a Google Chrome browser, it can help your SEO ranking.
High quality and relevant content will increase the chances of your website being bookmarked by visitors.
3. Optimize your images
Pictures and other images are great for your website.
But you need to make sure they are optimized properly if you want these images to improve your SEO ranking.
I’m referring to factors such as the file format and size.
Huge images can slow your page loading time, which, as I’ve said, hurts your ranking.
Resize or compress your images to optimize them.
You can also use your images to sneak in keywords by naming them accordingly.
For example, let’s say you have a website that sells toiletries or other bath products.
Instead of naming an image something like “shampoo1,” you could name it “best shampoo for long hair.”
You can also strategically use keywords in the title of your image as well as the caption or description.
4. Break up your content with header tags
Headings are another way to help improve the user experience on your website.
They break up the content and make it easier to read or skim.
Plus, headers make everything look more appealing, which is always beneficial.
If your website is just a wall of text, it’s going to discourage people from spending a long time on it.
As a result, your SEO ranking will suffer.
If you’re running your site on WordPress, you can easily change the header tags.

I use header tags for all my websites and blog posts.
If you’re not utilizing this tool, I highly recommend you start ASAP.
5. Start blogging
Blogging is great for your business.
It’s an outstanding tool for lead generation and helps you engage with visitors to your website.
But what most people don’t realize is blogging also improves SEO rankings.
Here’s why.
As I have already mentioned, producing fresh, updated, and relevant content can drive people to your website and give them a reason to stay on your pages for a while.
Well, blogs are the perfect channel for you to accomplish this.
If you can establish a large group of faithful readers, you can get lots of traffic to your site on a daily basis.
Plus, you can incorporate other things I talked about so far into your posts as well, such as images and header tags.
Other elements, such as links, increased readability, and keywords, can also be incorporated into these posts. I will talk about them shortly.
All of this positively impacts your search engine ranking.
6. Use outbound links
There are certain things you can do to increase the credibility of your website.
Sure, you can make claims, but it looks much better if you back them up.
All of your data claims should be linked to trustworthy and authoritative sources.
As you can see from what you’ve read so far today, I do this myself.
But here’s another example that illustrates what I’m talking about from a blog post I wrote about generating leads on Twitter:

All my facts are citations from authority sources.
And I made sure to use outbound hyperlinks to those websites.
You should not only link to authority sites but also make sure all the information is recent.
Notice that the graph I used in the example above is from 2017.
Outbound links to resources from 2009 are irrelevant and won’t be as effective for your SEO ranking.
You should also include internal links.
These links will direct visitors to other pages on your website.
I used this technique in the first sentence of this section.
If you scroll back up and click on the link, you’ll get redirected to another Quick Sprout blog post.
7. Add more than text
The content on your website shouldn’t be only written words.
As I said earlier, pictures are great too, but there’s more you can add to improve your SEO ranking.
Consider adding other multimedia elements such as videos, slideshows, or audio to your site.
All of this can help improve the user experience.
Why?
For starters, consumers want to see more videos:

It’s much easier to watch something than read about it.
But there’s a direct correlation between videos and other multimedia sources on your website, and it’s SEO ranking.
These features can dramatically improve the amount of time someone spends on your website.
Depending on the length of your videos, people could be on your page for several minutes.
If that happens, it will definitely boost your search ranking.
8. Make sure your site is readable
Keep your audience in mind when you’re writing content on your website.
If you want people to visit your site and spend time there, speak in terms they can understand.
Don’t try to sound like a doctor or a lawyer (even if you are one).
Your content should be written in a way the majority of people can understand.
Not sure if your content is readable?
You can use online resources to help.
One of my personal favorites is Readable.com.
Tools like this can help you identify words that might be too long or difficult for people to comprehend.
9. Fix any broken links
If you’re using authority websites for hyperlinks, you shouldn’t have to worry about the links breaking.
But it can still happen.
Broken links can crush your SEO ranking.
Plus, it doesn’t look good when a link you provide to your visitors brings them to an invalid website.
You can use tools like Dead Link Checker to search for links with errors on your website:

You can use this to check your entire website or specific pages.
If you sign up, you can also set up your account to get checked automatically.
Anytime a link goes dead, you’ll be contacted right away so you can replace it.
You can also use this resource to monitor other websites relevant to your industry.
How can that help your SEO?
Well, if a link goes dead on another website, you can notify the webmaster of that page and ask them to replace the dead link with a link to your website instead.
You’re doing them a favor by letting them know about a problem with their site, so they might be willing to do you a favor in return.
This will drive more traffic to your website. Outbound links from other websites to your page will help improve your SEO ranking too.
10. Optimize your site for mobile devices
As I’m sure you know, mobile use is on the rise.
It’s rising so fast that it’s actually overtaken computers and laptop devices.
In fact, over 60% of Google searches come from mobile devices.
Obviously, Google recognizes this and ranks sites accordingly.
Your website needs to be optimized for mobile users.
There’s no way around this.
If your site isn’t optimized, it’ll hinder the user experience, adversely affecting your ranking.

Tips on how to get a Nairobi Woman agree to that first date
PHOTO | FILE
Nairobi’s dating scene is vibrant. If you are not familiar with it though, you may never get a Nairobi woman on a date.

Here are tips that will get you that first date:

1. You get only one chance – Every woman in Nairobi has hundreds of potential suitors. What this means for a man is that he gets only one chance to impress her. If you ruin it, that’s it. If you are planning to ask her on a date, bring your best game. You have to put in the work.

2. Somewhere she hasn’t been before – Everyone in Nairobi likes to think that they have seen all that the city has to offer. If you can tell her about a spot especially one that is in the city which she hasn’t heard of before, you might get her on a date.

3. Make her friends jealous – Nothing will warm your way into a Nairobi woman’s heart like making her friends jealous of her. Be attentive, bring her a gift on the first date, act concerned. Make her friends think that you are the greatest catch and you will sure get her on that date.

4. She has been cat called – You need to be aggressive to survive in Nairobi. This means that every woman you meet has been whistled at in the streets by men who wanted to court her. To get an actual date, you need to stand out. Do not cat call her. Be decent.

5. Be engaging – If a Nairobi woman is to agree to go a date with you, you must first prove to her that you can keep a conversation going. Learn how to converse with a woman. Actual intelligent talk, not small talk or football talk.

6. Make her laugh – If you can get a Nairobi woman to laugh, she is all yours. Making a woman laugh gets her at ease with you. It allows her to be herself while on a date with you. What more does a woman want from a date?

7. Adopt the right attitude – Nothing puts a damper on a Nairobi woman’s interest in a man than noticing the man showing a lack of confidence. She knows what she wants and it is the very best.

Show her that you believe in yourself and are not afraid to speak out. Even a cocky man has a better chance with her than a wimp. Remember that this is very different from being violent or pushy.

8. Compliment, compliment, compliment – In a city that is full of beautiful women. No woman ever tires of hearing how that orange scarf brings out the warmth in her eyes or how her dress compliments her body. The secret is making sure you are giving honest compliments, not flattery. The latter will get you nowhere.

Social Media Marketing - Facebook
Facebook is a social networking service provider. It lets you invite and connect with friends, send messages and pictures, like and comment or share them. Facebook has seen outstanding growth since its inception and is poised to maintain its dominance in social networking.

History of Facebook

Facebook was founded by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg on February 4, 2004. In May 2007, Facebook opened up its developer platform to allow third-party developers to build applications and widgets that, once approved, could be distributed through the Facebook community. In May 2008, Facebook engineers announced Facebook connect, a cross-site initiative that allows users to publish on third-party sites in their Facebook newsfeed. The site was redesigned in late 2008, intended to streamline the website and make it easier to see what friends were doing.

What is Facebook Marketing?

Facebook is undoubtedly the most popular social media platform available with many advantages associated with it. It is primarily a social networking site, however it can be used as a handy tool for promoting and advertising a business. We can use Facebook to promote a brand, market a company, or create awareness about a service or a product.

Success with this form of marketing requires more than a fan page and a few friends. When used effectively, Facebook marketing can provide a business with exciting benefits and results. Facebook marketing can enable businessmen to greatly improve their brand awareness and reach out to a wider audience.

How to Create a Fan Page?

A Facebook fan page is an amazing way to promote your business, build awareness for a cause, and gather support for your brand. If you would like to create a fan page, follow these easy steps −

●      Log in to your Facebook account.
●      Click on the settings on the top right-hand corner of your page.
●      Click on create page.
●      Click on the type of page you would like to create.
●      Fill in all the information required.
●      Click on "get started".
●      Upload a profile picture and click on save photo.
●      Complete the 'about' section and click 'save info'.
●      Now decide whether you want to enable ads or skip (it will be payable if you enable).
Facebook Profiles

Facebook Profiles are for people and they are generally meant for personal use only. A Facebook profile is an account that is allocated against an individual, who can use it to network with friends and colleagues, and share information with them. It is designed to be a unique profile on the Facebook network for that one individual, and it is not meant to be used to represent a company, an organization, or a fictional character.

Facebook Places

Facebook Places enable people to provide real-time update of where they are and what they are doing when they are on the move. It also enables its users to take advantage of unexpected coincidences such as discovering that they are at some concert as their friends. Users can check in when they arrive at a location, and see whether their friends are nearby. The best part about Facebook places is that it will more or less maintain itself once it has been created. Facebook users do have the ability to 'like' the Facebook places as well, so encourage visitors to press the 'like' button after they check in.

Facebook Groups

Facebook Groups are the places for small group communication where users can share their common interests and express their opinion. Groups allow people to come together around a common cause. Groups are for discussing issues and share related content. When we create a group, we can decide whether to make it publicly available for anyone to join, require administrator approval for members to join, or keep it private and by invitation only. Groups range widely − from light-hearted themes to organizing activities to serious topics such as politics and world events.

Facebook Community

A Facebook Community is about an organization, a celebrity, or a topic. Community pages are meant for general topics and all kinds of unofficial but interesting things. These pages let us stay connected with others who share similar interests and experiences.

Grow Your Business with Facebook

Facebook is fast becoming a powerhouse of marketing activity due to the sheer number of engaging users on the site and the simplicity of connecting with them directly.

Facebook can provide your business with a branding outpost on the web where customers, employees, and even the media can find information about your company, products, and services. Facebook connects you and your staff directly to your customers and fans.

Facebook can generate new leads for your business by drawing users’ attention towards what you are offering. Facebook helps in sharing links, images, and posts on a customizable page to project a better sense of your business. Facebook runs tactics like contests, sweepstakes, etc., that can increase fans and brand awareness of your business.

Grow Business With Facebook
Latest Facebook Trends

The nature of social media marketing is ever-changing, so it is important to constantly stay updated with what the current market trends are. The latest Facebook trends that a business should be aware of are − using the cover photo for marketing, different types of Facebook posts, more pictures, etc. Facebook looks completely different from how it was a year ago, so it should not be surprising that marketing on the social network has also changed a great deal.

What are Adverts?

Adverts on Facebook are unique. They are shown to specific groups of highly engaged people. If your adverts have a great creative content and are well targeted, they get more likes, comments, and shares. When we boost our page posts or expand the audience for the adverts, more people will see them when they visit Facebook. Facebook ads allow us to promote our business, get more fans to our business page, and drive more leads for our sales team. Facebook ads allow us to advertise a website or content that we manage on Facebook (like a group, page, or event)

To create an ad, go to − Facebook And click "create an ad".

How to Create a Campaign?

With targeted ads, stories, and wall posts, a successful campaign can be a powerful tool in our advertising arsenal. When running a Facebook campaign, we can draw on several Facebook components such as wall posts, Facebook ads, sponsored marketing, unique page tabs, etc. We can break down reports by campaign and also easily start/stop all ad sets within that campaign.

Campaigns correspond to each of our advertising objectives, like building brand awareness or driving web traffic. They are designed to help optimize and measure our results for each objective across multiple ad sites and ads. Each campaign can feature multiple ad sets, each of which has its own budget and schedule. We can also organize each ad set to represent a particular audience segment, for example, we can have an ad set for people who live near our store. This will help us control the amount we spend on each audience, decide when they will see our ads, and measure their response. Within each ad set, we can have multiple ads, each of which can feature a different set of images, links, videos, or text.

Facebook − Do's and Don'ts

Do's
●      Use Facebook to stay in touch with your friends and make new ones.

●      Use Facebook to advertise your organization’s events.

●      Use Facebook to get involved with the campus community and learn what is happening around.

●      Use Facebook customer support page since it contains valuable information about privacy controls and other important safety information.

●      Do check each friend request carefully after visiting their profile.

●      Do use "privacy settings" while building up your photo albums.

Don'ts
●      Don't use your wall to announce your schedules, journey and planning.

●      Don't use public walls as your own. Try to maintain the decorum of groups and fan pages.

●      Don't accept friend requests from strangers.

●      Don't use Facebook for ragging and bullying anyone.

●      Don't post pictures of your friends without their permission.

●      Keep the Facebook fan page up to date by writing suitable description and posting interesting and friendly page titles. Always try to provide your readers with something fresh to read.

●      If you are running a contest on your page, then ask your visitors to like your fan page. Facebook contests are the easiest way to get people excited, as the lure of a big prize compels your target customers to 'like' your page and become your fan.

●      If you are running a business, then you should promote your fan page by using ads in the Facebook, as it is the easiest way to increase the visibility of your brand and reach out to a highly targeted audience.

●      Promote your page on your official website because it helps you to get likes from new visitors on your site. Having a 'like' button on your website is an easy way to drive new likes over time.

●      Synchronize your Facebook page with your other profiles on other social networking sites like Twitter, dig, etc. It will help you get more visitor response.

●      Sometimes educational content is a better incentive for a 'like' than a discount offer or a prize, depending on your industry or the target audience. Providing free written content such as eBooks can drive tons of new fans and customers.

What are Facebook Apps?

Facebook apps are basically software programs that can be added to users' Facebook profiles. These interactive software applications are developed to utilize the core technologies of the Facebook platform. Applications for Facebook have gained massive popularity in the last few years due to its uniqueness and the ease of creating them.

Facebook apps integrate Facebook newsfeeds, notifications, various social channels, and other features to generate awareness and interest in the app by the Facebook users. Apps and games are normally developed to enhance your experience on Facebook.

You can add the apps that interest you from the app center. The information found in these apps is stored on developer servers that are not hosted by Facebook. The developers are responsible for their servers. It has not been possible to exchange real currency directly within Facebook apps, however apps can utilize 'Facebook credits', a virtual currency that can be purchased in order to acquire virtual goods and services within Facebook apps.

Social Media Marketing - Overview
Business in today’s day and age is dominated by customers and their demands. People prefer to see referrals, reviews over Google search results, or a website before purchasing a product. To stand by the flow, we need to learn what people say about us. You need to actively participate in relevant communities to interact and influence masses. You need to engage with social media to manage your online reputation. Social media marketing is a must to target a wider customer base and expand your business.

Social Media Marketing is the activity of driving website traffic through social media sites.

What is Social Media?

Social Media is a platform that lets us participate in social networking. We can share our posts on various social media platforms to improve business visibility. Today it is the best source for news updates, marketing, education, and entertainment.

History of Social Media Marketing

Social Media seems to be a new trend, but its roots stretch to the beginning of computer era. What we see today is the result of centuries-old social media development. Usernets, which was launched in 1979, was the first progenitor of social media, and the journey from Usernets to Facebook is a long one. Usernets allowed users to post on newsgroups. It was followed by bulletin board systems (BBS) which allowed users to login and interact. Online services like progidy were the precursors to BBS. After online services, internet relay chat came into light which gave way to instant messaging.

In the 90s, dating sites and forums were on peak, which led to the development of social networks. But they did not let users make friend lists. Six degrees launched to overcome this feature. It allowed profile creation and listing pears. It was purchased and shut down after playing for a decade. Blogging emerged in this phase, creating a sensation in social media. It is popular even today. Other sites like BlackPlanet (African-American Social Website) and MiGente (Latino) cropped up having provision to create profiles and add friends.

Modern social networks came into picture post 2000. Apple launched its Friendster in 2002. It has millions of users. Hi5 and Linkedin were launched in 2003. Linkedin is a ground for professionals to reach out to one another. MySpace also originated in 2003 and became well known by 2006. Similarly Facebook was launched in 2004 and surpassed MySpace, Orkut, Multiply, etc., and is still expanding. This decade also conceived media sharing platforms like photobucket, flicker, youtube, instagram, revver, etc., along with news and bookmarking platforms like Digg and Delicious.

Since 2000, Social Media has bloomed to horizon and is still expanding limitlessly. Along with media sharing, many other portals that provide real-time updates were introduced, for example, Twitter, Posterous, Tumbler, etc. In 2007, Facebook launched its advertising system.

You should know this about social media marketing
Social media marketing (SMM) is a form of Internet marketing that utilizes social networking websites as a marketing tool. The goal of SMM is to produce content that users will share with their social network to help a company increase brand exposure and broaden customer reach.

One of the key components of SMM is social media optimization (SMO). Like search engine optimization (SEO), SMO is a strategy for drawing new and unique visitors to a website. SMO can be done two ways: adding social media links to content, such as RSSfeeds and sharing buttons -- or promoting activity through social media by updating statuses or tweets, or blog posts.

SMM helps a company get direct feedback from customers (and potential customers) while making the company seem more personable. The interactive parts of social media give customers the opportunity to ask questions or voice complaints and feel they are being heard. This aspect of SMM is called social customer relationship management (social CRM).

SMM became more common with the increased popularity of websites such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, and YouTube. In response, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has updated its rules to include SMM. If a company or its advertising agency provides a blogger or other online commenter with free products or other incentives to generate positive buzz for a product, the online comments will be treated legally as endorsements. Both the blogger and the company will be held responsible for ensuring that the incentives are clearly and conspicuously disclosed, and that the blogger's posts contain no misleading or unsubstantiated statements and otherwise complies with the FTC's rules concerning unfair or deceptive advertising.

9 Tips for Starting a kibanda Business in Kenya

We call them kibandas…or rather food courts ,the place where a sizeable lot of middle class wannabes go for a quick bite to keep off the pangs of hunger…And they are very popular, made even more popular by the runaway inflation. Setting up a formal food kiosk need not be an uphill task, if you follow the simple guidelines I am going to outline for you right about now….. Aside from being affordable, finding your target market is relatively easier with a food business.
I hope this quick guide will help you achieve success as a kibanda entrepreneur.
1. Write a business plan.
A business plan is your blueprint for success. Writing one allows you to run your business on paper, and will help you visualize all the tasks you’ll need to execute. A comprehensive business plan will be useful if you need to find partners or source funding for your venture. Having one gives an impression that you’re committed to succeed.
2. Build on one product.
You need to know that a food court business isn’t a restaurant that can offer a variety of meals, so don’t be one. All successful food carts focus on a few products. Just think about it. French fries, ice-creams, fruit shakes, fruits, sugarcane juice…etc. Innovate and offer something new, or compete in what’s currently popular or an emerging trend. Either way, also make sure that you’ll have the resources to manufacture your product by the volume.
3. Choose a good location.
Go where your target customers are. food court do well near office establishments, adjacent to transportation terminals, near markets and beside colleges or universities.
Moreover, assess the security and the accessibility of the area. It is recommended that you go to and observe around your planned location for several hours on different days, before pursuing it.
4. Register your business.
A food cart business is exposed to the public. Business and health inspectors will most likely visit your kibanda on a regular basis. That’s why it’s important to legally register your business by applying for all the necessary business and health permits.
5. Excel at customer service.
You are not only selling food, but you’re also providing a service to your customers. Teach your staff to be warm and friendly. Tell them to always serve with a smile.
People often become impatient and ill-tempered when they’re hungry. That’s why it’s important to train your crew on how to handle difficult clients
6. Ensure proper food sanitation.
Be meticulous about your food preparation and handling. Ensure proper sanitation in all steps. Invest in quality containers and packaging. Be strict with the expiration dates of your ingredients.
In today’s age of social media, you don’t want people talking about how unclean your food is, or how unsanitary your food court is. Additionally, you can be held liable if someone gets sick from eating your food.
7. Develop eye-catching food cart design. Colorful and well-designed food carts can easily attract customers. Use vivid hues of yellow, red, or orange. Make your text and menu displays simple and easy-to-read.
8. Be reasonable with pricing.
Sell at a price to make reasonable profits. Make sure that you are at par with competitors. And lastly, assess if your prices are affordable to your target customers.
There’s no straightforward formula you can follow when it comes to pricing. It’s really a matter of finding that balance between affordability, competitiveness, and profit — then adjusting accordingly.
9. Be your number one customer.
Don’t sell food that you’re not even a fan of. When sugar cane juice became a craze, I knew someone who ventured into it even though he didn’t like it. That business didn’t last long.
By being your number one customer, you’ll know exactly what makes your product good. You’ll also have insights on how to properly sell and market it. And more importantly, it’ll be easier for you to innovate on the food.
